Community Cleanup Efforts 

We hope you and your loved ones fared well during Hurricane Milton. In the aftermath of the storm’s destruction, we have seen heartwarming efforts as our community comes together. We extend our deepest gratitude to the first responders and crews who have been working tirelessly to restore our community. Their dedication has been vital in these challenging times. 

Our thoughts are also with our friends across the state and those in other states who are navigating significant challenges from both Hurricane Helene and Milton, and we’re holding them close in our hearts during this difficult period. 

Our local neighborhoods have endured flooding, storm damage, and a significant accumulation of vegetation and debris scattered throughout our yards, streets, beaches, and parks. Some residents were hit especially hard, facing devastating tornadoes that ripped through communities and destroyed homes and belongings. We want to remind everyone that assistance and resources are available for those in need. 

If you're safe and able to lend a hand, there are many things you can do!

?We have several cleanup and volunteer opportunities. It’s a great way to feel that you can make a real difference in the lives of your Martin County neighbors.

BACK TO THE FRONTLINES:

POST-HURRICANE CLEANUP 

A month ago, 1,200 dedicated volunteers took to our beaches and parks for this year's International Coastal Cleanup. We are truly grateful for their hard work and commitment. Together, our ICC volunteers removed over 6,000 pieces of litter from more than 30 beaches and waterways across Martin County. 

In the wake of Hurricane Milton, many of our beaches and parks are now scattered with debris. We need your help once again to restore these cherished areas, especially at the following locations: 

• Bob Graham Beach, 3225 NE Ocean Blvd, Jensen Beach
• Beachwalk Pasley, 2801 NE Ocean Blvd, City of Stuart
• Bryn Mawr Beach, 2661 NE Ocean Blvd, City of Stuart

Volunteers can begin cleanup efforts right away or join a larger group on Saturday, October 19, starting at Jensen Beach from 8AM to 10AM. 

Volunteers must review, sign and submit our Post-Hurricane Milton Cleanup Waiver before participating in any cleanup activities.

Please note, while our focus is on removing trash there might be an abundance of vegetative debris in need of removal as well. It is important that we keep these two types of debris separate. Please bag up any trash and put it either in the trash cans at the beach or park or place bags right next to the cans. Vegetation can be stacked up in piles in a safe grassy or sandy area in the parking lot.

If you see a need for cleanup at any other areas in our community, please contact us so we can add them to our list. Or feel free to go out and clean up these areas if you are able. 

We’ll provide cleanup supplies, including garbage bags, gloves and pickup sticks. Please arrange a supply pickup in advance by contacting us at 772-781-1222 or emailing info@keepmartinbeautiful.org to reserve your materials. Your help makes a difference!

Keep Martin Beautiful volunteers are always ready to make a difference, and we have a new way for you to help!

Instead of picking up litter, we’re asking you to pick up signs and wave them proudly. 

The Martin County Forever Committee needs volunteers to help raise awareness by sign waving in support of the referendum on November 5. This vote will protect natural lands and water quality through a Half-Cent Sales Tax. 

If approved, the funds will be used to purchase and conserve natural lands, improve water quality, protect wildlife, and expand recreational spaces. By taking action now, we can preserve the places we love and keep Martin County green and beautiful for future generations.
